The characters you choose from in this game look like they’re straight out of Skylanders. You can play offline against A.I. opponents, or if you’ve got the skills, you can compete in an online tournament. In fact, the game was so popular that in 2016, it held a tournament for $50,000 called the BCX (Brawlhalla Championship Expo) in Atlanta, Georgia. Gaming personalities, developers, and competitors all met to compete in the event.

Like Smash, there are power-ups and moving platforms throughout, and just like the rules in that game, you have to knock your opponent off the platform. The moving platforms make the levels go from easy to hard, which makes the game much more interesting. The last character remaining moves on to the next round. It also has a HUD where it shows who eliminated who, which is really awesome.

I don’t know what engine this game runs on, but there is no way the game should look this good. The medieval, almost mystical artwork is superb, and the level design is amazing – nice and simple, just as it should be.

Would I recommend this game? I give two thumbs all the way up. I found this game fun, there is always something to do, and you can even play with other people online or in real tournaments. If you’re a fan of Super Smash Bros. or you enjoy beat ’em up games, this is for you.
